A Family Case of Adducted Thumb-Report of 1 Case-



Abstract
Congenital adducted thumb is a rare anomaly. It has been described in association ith other anomalies of the hand such as absence of the flexor pollicis longus and ambined absence of the extrinsic extensor and of the abductor pollicis longus. It
is
iracterized by absence or partial absence of the thenar muscloe and often lack a mctional flexor pollicis longus muscle. The thumb usually is shortened, with a attened thenar eminence and a deficient first web space. The deformity usually is
ansmitted
as an autosomal dominant trait and usually unilateral.
The congenital adducted thumb was rarely reported but authors experienced one case contracted thumb-index web space that have familial tendency.
Eight familial members were studied and four of them had adducted thumb eformity. Our one case treated by four flap Z-plasty with good result.
